A quarter-century journey from a small home cell in Thompson Bay to a growing Assemblies of God congregation reaching Sierra Leone.
Agape Assemblies of God Church began as a small home cell fellowship in the late 1990s. Early members gathered regularly for prayer, worship, Bible study, and fellowship, laying a strong spiritual foundation for future growth.
One of the church’s earliest evangelistic strategies was organizing Christian film shows at the Thompson Bay playing field. These outdoor events helped reach the local community with the gospel and attracted many new believers into fellowship.
As the congregation continued to grow, the Western District Council of the Assemblies of God provided pastoral oversight by sending seasoned ministers to guide and monitor the fellowship. Among those who served during this period were Brother Simeon Koroma and his wife, Pastor Gobe, and several other devoted men and women of God.
In the early 2000s, the fellowship was officially named Agape Assemblies of God Church, marking its recognition as a local assembly within the Assemblies of God denomination.
Believers gathered in a small, intimate setting for prayer, worship, Bible study, and mutual encouragement. These early meetings laid the spiritual foundation for what would later become a full-fledged church, marked by simplicity, strong relationships, and a deep hunger for God’s Word.

The fellowship was formally recognised as a local assembly within the Assemblies of God denomination — a name chosen deliberately: Agape, the selfless, unconditional love of God, as the defining mark of this congregation.
What began with a handful of believers in a living room now gathers weekly in Thompson Bay — and, through our livestream, reaches members and friends of the church wherever they live.
Agape is shepherded by a team of ministers and board members committed to sound doctrine, servant leadership, and the wellbeing of every member of this church family.
Provides overall spiritual oversight of the congregation, leading with a heart for discipleship and evangelism in the tradition established since the church’s founding.
